SHBM is the only Associate Member of the EHL Network of Certified Schools in Morocco, a testimonial to our focus on excellence in education. École hôtelière de Lausanne (EHL) is consistently regarded as the best hospitality school in the world and thus SHBM is looking to expand on this initiative throughout Morocco and furthermore throughout Africa.

 

Our continued collaboration includes AHLEI and other leaders of hospitality education in order to create both a nationally and internationally renowned school. Thus, SHBM is looking for an Executive Chef with a Hospitality Mindset that is motivated to be part of this exciting new venture.

 

Reporting to the Head of Operations, the Executive Chef’s mission will be to ensure the delivery of outstanding training and education to students at SHBM while managing kitchen operations following the highest standards of food quality, presentation, and hygiene.

 

The scope of this mission includes:

 

Operations:

 

  • Setting-up the operations of the kitchen based on standard requirements and local specificities
  • Running the operations of all kitchen areas within the school
  • Managing the kitchen team and lead them towards the delivery of outstanding training and education
  • Maximizing the profit margins through effective management of all kitchen functions.

 

Curriculum:

 

  • Developing course plans and complete course materials (PowerPoint slides, handouts, exercises, examination scripts...)
  • Adapting the course content based on SHBM’s cultural environment and local specificities.
  • Ensuring regular update and upholding of the excellence standards
  • Creating the greatest possible links between theory and practice in order to build a better and immediate understanding for students, aiming at giving the latter practical knowledge to be able to work within kitchen functions of the hotel industry.
  • Adapt curriculum based on current innovations and apply new technologies to teaching methods and theories.

 

Profil recherché :

 

QUALIFICATIONS AND APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS:

 

Pre-requisites:

 

  • National Diploma or Certificate of professional business or an international equivalent
  • High level of English proficiency
  • Minimum 12-15 years of professional experience
  • International experience in the foodservice industry
  • Higher degree (Bachelors/ Masters) in the required technical field
  • Ability to communicate and to share their passion
  • Ability to build a course based on the recommendations of the faculty and to use multimedia materials with their teaching.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of trends and interest in the use of new technologies.

  • Ability to teach both the theory and practical elements
  • Commitment to the profession with extensive experience, training, and teaching skills.
  • Capacity to demonstrate professionalism and act as an example for the students
  • Ability to adhere to SHBM & UM6P’s teaching philosophies and values
  • Demonstrate a dynamic and visionary leadership allowing the school to achieve excellence in its field.
  • Great communication skills and an open-minded approach to cultural diversity.

When the COVID-19 pandemic hit UM6P was uniquely positioned to respond quickly and allow our faculty, staff, and students to resume their work/learning from home which made it capable for them to be anywhere in the world. The past few months have proven we can make that work. We have the capability and will conduct the full hiring process from home and if chosen for this position you may begin working from home if the situation does not permit relocating to Morocco and/or working from the University Offices upon your contracted start date.
