About CRSA :

CRSA is a transversal structure across several UM6P Programs. Research within the center is organized around several major areas that aim to ensure the challenging Food and Water security goal in Africa, with a special focus on developing methods/tools that use multi-source remotely sensed data. The research aims to improve our understanding of the integrated functioning of continental surfaces and their interaction with climate and humans, with emphasis on sustainable management of natural resources (soil, land, water, agriculture) in the context of Climate Change. One of center’s goals is to provide a set of services and operational products to users (local, national and international) that aid in the decision support of water and food systems.

 

Job description :

The Mohammed VI Polytechnic University (UM6P) is hiring a technician in data operating and processing who will be attached to International Water Research Institute (IWRI) and Center for Remote Sensing Applications (CRSA).

We are looking for a technician with an experience in the installation and monitoring of hydrological and agrometeorological parameters measurement equipments. The successful candidate should combine team work spirit and ability to participate in field missions and campaigns. Good oral and writing communication skills in French and English are also required.

 

Key duties :

The main tasks of the successful candidate are :

  • Calibration and verification of measuring instruments in the laboratory and field.
  • Control and maintenance of measuring devices.
  • Assembly and Installation of measuring instruments and data transmission equipment.
  • Data collection and verification of the quality of the parameters measurement.
  • Implementation of metrology procedures and monitoring documents.
  • Participation in field missions of experimental data acquisition.

 

Criteria of the candidate :   

The candidate should have a diploma of technician in the targeted field from a recognized high education institute.

A relevant experience in the installation and monitiring of equipments for hydrological and agrometeorological parameters measurement would be preferable.

 

Skills :

The appointee candidate will be expected to demonstrate :

  • Good knowledge of fundamental physics.
  • Relevant competencies in maintenance and technical problems solving using efficient approaches.
  • Ability to maintain good records of field interventions and access them quickly.
  • Autonomy and quick learning ability.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Relevant oral and writing communication skills in French and English.
  • Ability to work in a multidisciplinary team.
