Junior Mining Planning Engineer - Taliouine

Aya is the only pure silver mining company listed on the Toronto Stock Exchange. It operates the high-grade Zgounder silver mine and explores its highly prospective lands along the South Atlasic Accident, several of which host old producing mines and historical resources. In addition to its Moroccan mining assets, Aya also holds the Tijirit gold project in Mauritania, which is advancing to the feasibility study stage.

As part of its expansion, AYA Gold & Silver is looking to strengthen its teams with skills in various trades, particularly in maintenance.

Job :

Main Responsibilities
Mine Planning
o Prepare and develop LOM and budget scenarios.
o Prepare rolling 18-month mine plans to ensure operational alignment with the LOM plan and annual budget.
o Prepare the 3MS plan at the end of each month to ensure operational alignment with the annual budget.
o Prepare and monitor the weekly planning feed.
o Assist and lead weekly and monthly meetings.
o Perform monthly reconciliations between planned and actual results.
o Analyze and advise on strategic risks and opportunities identified across all planning functions.
o Perform and optimize mine design.
o Prepare clearly written monthly reports and other required documents.
o Generate weekly and monthly reports.
o Optimize the mine plan to maximize the extraction of mineralized zones and minimize dilution.
o Liaise daily with planning and other departments.
o Provide guidance and mentorship to junior colleagues to ensure safe and successful development and execution.
o Assist in identifying efficiency gains and cost savings.
o Ensure HSE practices and a safe working environment and cooperate with the HSE department.
o Perform other tasks as needed in support of company objectives.
o Mentor junior engineers.
o Periods of time will be spent on-site in a supervisory role as part of ongoing development.
o Adhere to and support all company-related policies and procedures.
Interface Management
o Manage the interface between geology, planning, surveying, and operations.

o Maintain constructive and effective working relationships with employees and contractors.

Safety Management
o Ensure all mine activities are conducted safely and in accordance with Company standards and procedures.
o Ensure procedures and standards are followed.
o Demonstrate commitment and leadership in safety, social, and environmental matters.

 

Required profile :

Education Level
o Bachelor's degree (Bac+5) in geology or mining.

Experience
o Junior: with knowledge of underground and open-pit mine planning.

Technical Skills
o Knowledge of open-pit and underground mining operations.
o Good knowledge of the Office Suite (Excel advanced, Microsoft Word, PowerPoint).
o Familiarity with blasting schemes (drilling, blasting, firing plans).
o Familiarity with the open-pit and underground mining process.
o Familiarity with equipment used in open-pit and underground mining operations.
o Attention to detail.
o Knowledge of mine surveying.
o Knowledge of mine planning software (Deswik is an asset).
o Ability to work in a multicultural environment.
o Ability to communicate effectively at all levels of the organization.
o Analytical and problem-solving skills.
o Proficiency in English and French.
