ESG Engineer - El Jadida

COBCO was established in 2023 through a joint venture between the Chinese group CNGR, a global leader in the production of materials for electric vehicle batteries, and the AL MADA group, one of the largest private investment funds in Africa.

The company is developing an industrial park in Jorf Lasfar dedicated to the manufacturing of battery components for electric vehicles. Covering over 200 hectares and involving an investment of 20 billion dirhams, this industrial park aims to produce 120,000 tons of NMC precursors, 60,000 tons of LFP components, and 30,000 tons of black mass annually.

COBCO's production will support the manufacturing of battery materials for over one million electric vehicles each year.

Poste :

• Support the ESG Engineer in identifying and evaluating ESG risks, ensuring appropriate controls and action plans are in place.
• Contribute to environmental data collection, including energy, water, emissions, and waste streams.
• Assist in implementing initiatives for carbon reduction, biodiversity protection, and pollution prevention.
• Collaborate with the ESG and EHS Engineers to track evolving regulatory requirements and ensure alignment with corporate policies.
• Assist in maintaining alignment with international standards like ISO 14001 (Environmental Management) and ISO 50001 (Energy Management).
• Participate in the rollout of ESG and EHS action plans and support on-the-ground activities in collaboration with various departments.
• Support the ESG Engineer in implementing carbon accounting methodologies aligned with ISO 14064, GHG Protocol, and other relevant standards.
• Assist in integrating IFC Environmental and Social Action Plans (ESAP) and technical requirements into operational processes.
• Help develop and update internal ESG and EHS technical guidelines, procedures, and documentation to ensure consistent application across departments.
• Make site inspections and controls in terms of EHS requirements.
• Support stakeholder engagement initiatives, including communication with local communities, authorities, and other relevant parties.
• Help coordinate Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programs, such as community development projects, employee volunteering, and social impact assessments.
• Participate in stakeholder meetings, workshops, and consultations on ESG-related topics.
•  Support the preparation of ESG and EHS reports, ensuring alignment with frameworks such as GRI, SASB, IFC Performance Standards, and other reporting standards.
• Monitor and document KPIs related to sustainability performance (e.g., energy consumption, GHG emissions, waste management, social initiatives).
• Track progress of carbon reduction goals, energy efficiency targets, and ESG action plans, identifying deviations and recommending corrective measures.
• Conduct awareness sessions to improve understanding of ESG and EHS requirements and foster a culture of sustainability across teams.

Profil recherché :

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field and professional certifications.
• ESG training certificate.
• Relevant certifications such as Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Occupational Health and Safety Technician (OHST), or similar credentials ( ISO 45001 and ISO 14001, ISO 14064, ISO 5001).
• Work at height training certificate.
• Firefighting training certificate.
• Emergency resecue training certificate.
• Lifting training certificate.
• Confined space training certificate.
• Chemicals handling and storage training certificate.

• Proficient in using EXCEL/PPT, and English can be used as a working language.
