Poste :
Position Summary:
We are seeking a research assistant to join our team and contribute to research in phytomanagement and phytoremediation of mining waste. This position is part of a multidisciplinary research project focused on the ecological rehabilitation of mining soils. The role involves in-depth characterization of mining soils, or technosols, to assess their potential for ecological restoration. The study focuses on the physico-chemical, mineralogical, and microbiological properties of these soils.
Responsibilities:
• Soil sampling across various mining sites.
• Laboratory analysis of physico-chemical properties (texture, pH, CEC, etc.) and mineralogical characteristics (XRD).
• Processing of spectroscopy/hyperspectral data related to soil quality.
• Participation in the analysis of microbial biodiversity (metabarcoding, enzymatic activity).
• Contribution to the development of soil quality maps.
Profil recherché :
Candidate Profile:
• Master’s degree or PhD in soil science, pedology, environmental geochemistry, or a related field.
• Proficiency in soil analysis techniques (field and laboratory).
• Knowledge of technosols and mining pollution.
• Skilled in data analysis software and mapping tools.
• Strong teamwork and collaborative problem-solving abilities.
• Good written and oral communication skills in both English and French.
Additional Skills (Assets):
• Experience in soil microbiology (a major asset).
• Scientific rigor and ability to synthesize information.
• Autonomy and collaborative mindset.
• Driver’s license preferred for field travel.
