Job Description

The AGC is currently accepting applications for a Natural Products Chemistry Research Assistant position for a duration of 12 months. The selected candidate will be responsible for conducting wet lab work, encompassing tasks such as analytical chemistry, natural products chemistry/biotechnology tasks and more.

Situated within the African Genome Center, this facility houses Chemistry and OMICS Platforms designed to act as a central hub for collaborative research and training. These platforms foster a unified scientific community and provide the essential infrastructure necessary to facilitate cutting-edge OMICS approaches. The overarching goal is to address challenges in food security, agriculture, conservation, mine restoration, as well as human and animal health in Morocco and Africa.

We are actively seeking candidates who are highly motivated and possess experience in chemistry, paharmacology or related fields. Given the multifaceted nature of the challenges at hand, successful candidates should be prepared to employ a diverse range of approaches in a transdisciplinary manner. Any relevant experience in this capacity will be highly valued.

Responsibilities

• Gather and perform experimental activities related to natural products and analytical chemistry
• Generation of crude extracts from various plants, terrestrial and marine (micro)biological material
• Chemical analysis, including the dereplication of the crude extracts and fractions obtained by chromatographic techniques
• Purification of natural products by chromatographic methods (HPLC)
• Sample and compound preparation for chemical analyses
• Planning, implementation and documentation of experiment
• General lab organization and tasks (washing, solvent change, waste treatment etc.)
• Ordering chemicals and consumables

Profil recherché :

Minimum requirement :

• Master’s degree in chemistry, pharmacy or any related fields.
• Proficieny in English and French is a MUST
• Necessary skill
• Experience in chromatographic seperation and biological assay testing, etc.
