Desired skills and experience

The successful candidate will:

• Undertake original research of international excellence in the field of polymer and polymer-based composite materials.
• Prepare papers for publication in leading journals and/or contribute to the dissemination at national/international conferences, workshops and meetings.
• Communicate to the research project team the development, progress and results of research activities.
• Develop collaborative links with the core scientific staff in related program areas to gain exposure and build knowledge on experimental/research activities and approaches, in order to improve conceptual development and implementation.
• Identify areas of improvement within the research structure using integrated management approaches in pursuit of capacity building/strengthening and the preservation of scientific rigor in research studies.
• Support if required, the development of proposals for research funding.
• Develop undergraduate courses, MASTER courses, and modules.
• Co-supervise Ph.D. and master’s students.

Profil recherché :

Due to the multidisciplinary character of HTMR, the ideal candidate must have as well a multidisciplinary scientific profile:

• PhD degree in Chemistry and Materials Science or another suitable engineering discipline.
• At least two years of experience as a post doc is a must.
• Strong background in the development of polymer materials and their modification.
• Good knowledge of biobased materials and their valorization.
• Experience in the development of fluorinated polymers and their composites.
• Hands on experience in nanoparticles functionalization and their integration into composite materials.
• Strong skills in microstructural and thermal characterization of composites using various techniques (optical and electronic microscopy, EDX, FTIR, TGA, DSC).
• Initial experience in high throughput experimentation and workflow design for materials development will be valued.
• Experience in research in the framework of industrial projects will be a big asset.
• Hands on experience in sample preparation.
• Excellent communication skills (oral and written) in English.
• Good publication track record in peer-reviewed journals.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary and multicultural team.
• International experience will be highly valued.
• Excellent networking ability and organizational skills.
• Experience in technology transfer is appreciated.
• Familiar with risk assessment and safe working procedures in a chemical laboratory.
• Experience in co-supervision and coordination of master and Ph.D. students.
• Experience in teaching courses at the university level.
