Position Overview
The Technician in Assembly & Prototyping will play a key role in the SMART BIN project, supporting the development of IoT-based smart waste bins. This position focuses on the mechanical assembly, prototyping, and integration of sensors and electronic components.
The technician will work with engineers, machine learning specialists, and material scientists to ensure the successful implementation and deployment of the smart bin prototype on UM6Ps campus.

Key Responsibilities
The selected candidate will:
· Assemble and prototype smart bin systems, including mechanical, electrical, and sensor components.
· Assist in the installation and testing of IoT devices, cameras, and sensors for real-time waste classification.
· Support the fabrication of smart bins, including material selection and durability testing.
· Ensure proper wiring, hardware integration, and functional testing of the smart bin units.
· Integrate and test the motorized slider mechanism responsible for placing waste into the correct compartment.
· Conduct field tests to assess bin performance, user interaction, and sensor accuracy.
· Assist in the optimization of waste recognition systems by coordinating with the AI/ML team.
· Perform preventive maintenance and troubleshooting of prototype components.
· Document assembly processes and suggest design improvements for future iterations.
· Collaborate with researchers to refine mechanical and electronic system performance.
· Ensure compliance with safety protocols during prototyping and testing phases.
