About ACER CoE:

The centre has been recently created to address enduring process challenges in Chemistry and Engineering disciplines and to create an environment for interdisciplinary research. The research program of ACER is multidisciplinary with faculty members possessing backgrounds in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, and Environmental Engineering with a focus on different research field areas such as catalysis, separation, energy generation, conversion and storage, organic optoelectronics, intelligent and advanced polymers and materials.

Mission

A highly-organized and level-headed Laboratory Manager is being sought to overlook and maintain the smooth running and operation of several laboratories in ACER in addition to managing various daily tasks involving staff, supplies, health and safety, and training.  The selected candidate must be able to manage and plan his/her own workload. 

Main activities

The main duties and responsibilities of the Laboratory Manager will be as follows:

• Selecting and purchasing lab equipment and materials for ACER

• Checking and negotiating service legal agreements before final purchasing of equipment

• Overseeing and managing the installation and commissioning of ACER lab equipment in line with proper standards and procedures

• Ensuring equipment is installed in appropriate spaces within ACER labs

• Maintaining correct functioning of all lab equipment in ACER including solving technical issues

• Generating Standard Operating Practices (SOPs) for equipment operators

• Upholding health and safety procedures and standards and offering training to technicians

• Purchasing, managing, and checking the consistent supply of laboratory materials and chemicals in the warehouse and ACER laboratories

• Overlooking ongoing experiments and checking the parameters as required

• Maintaining high standards and quality for lab operations

• Attending meetings regarding lab, equipment, and technical issues

Profil recherché :

Qualification and Experience

Masters in Physics/Chemistry/Engineering or related

Minimum 3 years experience in a similar role

Knowledge of and experience in dealing with a variety of lab equipment

Highly fluency in French and English required

Main skills

Excellent time management

Communicate coherently and logically with various entities (staff, vendors, partners etc.)

Take initiative for problem-solving and other tasks relating to the ACER labs

Work independently without supervision

Prioritize workload and deadlines in a timely manner

Planning and organizing daily and weekly tasks and activities
