Job description:

The Agrobioscience Program (AgBS) at the Mohammed VI Polytechnic University seeks a Junior R&D Engineer candidate responsible for applying scientific and engineering principles to develop, improve, and optimize food production processes and products. The candidate will collaborate with cross-functional and multidisciplinary teams to ensure the safety, quality, and efficiency of manufacturing operations. The ideal candidate should have a strong background in food science, engineering principles, and a passion for innovation in the food industry.

Main responsibilities:

The selected candidate will be expected to:

• Research and Development: Conduct research and development activities to improve existing food products, develop new products, and optimize food manufacturing processes.
• Process Optimization: Analyze and optimize production processes to enhance efficiency, quality, and consistency while ensuring adherence to standards and regulatory requirements.
• Product Formulation: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and optimize food product formulations that meet consumer preferences, nutritional requirements, and cost targets.
• Equipment Evaluation and Selection: Evaluate, select, and oversee the installation of food processing equipment to ensure optimal performance, efficiency, and compliance with industry standards.
• Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of experiments, test results, formulations, process changes, and other relevant data. Prepare reports and presentations to communicate findings and recommendations to stakeholders.

Employment terms:

This is a full-time, fixed-term one-year appointment with an attractive remuneration package. The successful candidate will first be employed for one year, renewable once.

Education, qualifications, and experience

Candidates should have a master’s degree or engineering in food science and technology.

• Fundamentals of Chemistry and Microbiology.
• Research experience in plant nutritional quality and experience in food formulation is valued.
• Ability to work in the laboratory and conduct field studies.
• Working with R for statistical analysis and data illustration
• Superb problem-solving skills and ability to work well in a team
• Positive attitude in changing fast-paced environments
• Proactively identify opportunities for innovation, efficiency enhancements, and cost optimization within the food manufacturing process.
• English communication skills.
