Location: ACME, UM6P Campus Nouaceur
Report to: Technical Manager / General Manager
Entity: Africa Center of Manufacturing Excellence (ACME) is a Technology development platform focused on Advanced Manufacturing, Industry 4.0, automation and tooling.
Mission:
Contribute to the advancement of additive manufacturing technologies by developing, optimizing, and implementing innovative processes and materials for precision engineering applications. The Research Scientist will support the full additive manufacturing workflow from design to production and post-processing while driving research projects that enhance part quality, production efficiency, and material performance in support of industrial and academic objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design complex components for precision investment casting.
- Operate, maintain and calibrate our industrial 3D printing machines.
- Inspect and measure 3D printed parts using digital metrology tools.
- Operate ancillary equipment including furnaces for sintering, heat treatment and melting.
- Prepare, formulate and characterize materials.
- Collect data, perform data analysis and prepare written reports/presentations.
- Improve existing processes/workflows and develop new processes/workflows for improved efficiencies.
- Demonstrate excellent teamsmanship in a high performing technical team.
- Conduct literature reviews to stay up to date with the latest developments in additive manufacturing technologies and materials.
- Participate in the design and execution of experimental plans for process optimization and material development.
- Support scale-up and technology transfer from laboratory to pilot or production environments.
- Train and mentor junior staff, interns, or students on additive manufacturing equipment and best practices.
- Ensure compliance with all safety protocols, quality standards, and laboratory best practices.
- Liaise with academic and industrial partners to support collaborative research projects.
- Assist in preparing technical proposals, grant applications, and publications to disseminate research findings.
- Experience writing proposals for funded research projects preferred.
Profil recherché :
Qualifications and Experience:
- PhD in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science or Engineering, or closely related area required.
- Expertise in advanced manufacturing processes and methods with a focus on additive and subtractive methods is required; 2 or more years of experience in an industrial field is required.
- Ability to lead projects from concept to execution to conclusion is required.
- Strong communication and documentation skills in English. Fluency in French would be a plus.
