Main Mission
The Legal Counsel will provide legal support to the company in its daily operations and ensure compliance with Moroccan laws and reg ulations.
The position will be responsible for managing legal matters, contracts, customs-related issues, disputes, and conflicts involving the company, while protecting the company's legal interests and minimizing legal risks.
Main Responsibilities1. Legal Advisory
Provide legal advice to management and different departments on daily business activities
Interpret and explain Moroccan laws and regulations applicable to the company
Identify potential legal risks and propose appropriate preventive measures
Monitor changes in Moroccan legislation and inform management of relevant developments
Ensure that company activities and internal procedures comply with applicable laws and regulations
2. Contract Management
Draft, review, revise, and negotiate contracts and commercial agreements
Review contracts with suppliers, customers, contractors, service providers, and business partners
Identify contractual risks and recommend appropriate amendments
Follow up on contractual obligations, renewals, amendments, and termination procedures
Maintain an organized database of contracts and legal documents
3. Customs & International Trade
Provide legal support on customs-related matters and disputes
Coordinate with Customs Administration and other relevant government authorities
Follow up on customs declarations, inspections, claims, penalties, and related legal issues
Support the company in resolving customs disputes and administrative issues
Work closely with Logistics, Procurement, Finance, and other departments on customs compliance
4. Disputes & Litigation
Handle and follow up on conflicts between the company and other companies, suppliers, contractors, partners, or third parties
Manage commercial disputes and claims
Prepare legal files and supporting documents for disputes and litigation
Coordinate with external lawyers and legal advisors
Follow up on court cases, legal procedures, claims, and judgments
Participate in negotiations and amicable dispute resolution whenever appropriate
Provide regular updates to management regarding ongoing disputes and potential legal risks
5. Corporate & Administrative Legal Matters
Provide legal support for company registration, amendments, authorizations, and administrative procedures
Prepare and review corporate documents and legal correspondence
Liaise with government authorities, public institutions, lawyers, notaries, and other external stakeholders
Support management in handling sensitive legal and administrative matters
Ensure proper maintenance and confidentiality of company legal records
6. Internal Legal Support
Provide legal assistance to HR, Finance, Procurement, Logistics, Customs, EHS, Operations, and other departments
Review internal policies, procedures, and documents from a legal perspective
Support HR in employment-related legal matters when required
Support Finance and Procurement in contractual and commercial legal matters
Assist management in resolving legal issues arising from daily operations
7. Legal Risk Management
Identify, assess, and monitor legal risks affecting the company
Establish preventive measures to reduce legal and contractual risks
Develop legal procedures and internal guidelines where necessary
Maintain a legal risk and litigation tracking system
Prepare legal reports and updates for management
Ensure timely escalation of major legal risks and disputes
Candidate Profile
Bachelor's Degree in Law or equivalent legal qualification
Strong knowledge of Moroccan law and regulations
Professional experience in the legal department of a company, preferably in an industrial, manufacturing, multinational company, or industrial/free-zone environment
Experience dealing with customs and commercial disputes is highly desirable
Experience working with external lawyers, government authorities, and administrative institutions
Good knowledge of contracts, commercial law, and corporate legal matters
Strong negotiation and problem-solving skills
Good command of English, written and spoken
French and Arabic required; Chinese is an advantage
