Job Description
The Geology and Sustainable Mining Institute (GSMI) at the University Mohammed VI Polytechnic (UM6P) invites applications for an 18-month scientist position in mineral engineering and mineralogy, with a particular emphasis on sedimentary phosphate ores. We are especially interested in candidates with research interests in the mineralogical, physical, and chemical characterization of phosphate ores, automated mineralogical characterization, physical chemistry of surfaces and interfaces, and mineral processing.
The candidate will be involved in OCP-funded multidisciplinary research projects aimed at improving the scientific knowledge of the beneficiation routes of Moroccan phosphate ores and proposing avenues for optimizing the processing schemes. The selected candidate is expected to develop efficient processes for phosphate ores enrichment. This will involve a thorough examination of the mineralogical, physical, and chemical properties of phosphate ores, investigation of various beneficiation processes, and the employment of automated mineralogical microscopy.
The position is open to candidates holding a Ph.D. degree in mineral engineering, materials science or a related field with a focus on phosphate ores beneficiation and mineralogy.
