Job Description
The Geology and Sustainable Mining Institute (GSMI) at the University Mohammed VI Polytechnic (UM6P) invites applications for an 18-month research assistant position in mineral processing and extractive metallurgy, with a particular emphasis on silica ores. We are especially interested in candidates with research interests in mineral processing techniques such as flotation, gravity separation, and magnetic separation, as well as expertise in hydrometallurgical and pyrometallurgical processes.
The candidate will be involved in OCP-funded research project aimed at improving the scientific knowledge of the beneficiation routes of silica ores and proposing avenues for optimizing the processing schemes and producing a metallurgical grade silicon. The selected candidate is expected to develop efficient processes for silica ores enrichment. This will involve a thorough examination of the mineralogical, physical, and chemical properties of silica ores, investigation of various beneficiation processes.

Profil recherché :
Qualifications
- A Master's degree, Engineering diploma, or Ph.D. in Chemistry, Mineral Processing, Metallurgy, Mineral Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field with a focus on silica ore beneficiation or mineral beneficiation in general,
- Good background in mineral processing techniques such as flotation, gravity separation, and magnetic separation,
Preferred qualifications
- Prior research experience in silica ore processing.
- Experience with hydrometallurgical and pyrometallurgical processes,
- Demonstrated ability to conduct independent research and work effectively in a team,
- Excellent communication and scientific writing skills.
