Mission:
The Research Engineer will lead advanced materials analysis, reliability diagnostics, and failure investigations across a wide range of industrial components and systems. This role supports applied research programs, maintenance and repair decision-making, and the development of reliable, cost-effective manufacturing and inspection strategies.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform and develop advanced non-destructive testing (NDT) techniques (e.g., ultrasonic, magnetic particle, dye penetrant) in line with industry standards.
- Conduct materials characterization, including metallographic analysis, mechanical testing, and microstructure evaluation.
- Analyze inspection data and component failures using standard methodologies (FMEA, RCA) to support repair or redesign recommendations.
- Develop, validate, and document inspection procedures and protocols for complex composite and metallic structures, including 3D-printed components.
- Collaborate with design, engineering, and manufacturing teams to ensure inspection findings inform robust product development and production quality.
- Supervise and mentor team members in inspection practices and ensure consistent adherence to safety, quality, and operational standards.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives by optimizing inspection workflows, sourcing new equipment, and implementing best practices.
- Prepare technical reports, maintain databases of inspection results, and contribute to internal training and knowledge sharing.
- Engage with external partners (e.g., universities, OEMs) for research collaborations, benchmarking, and technology validation.
- Assist in preparing technical proposals, grant applications, and publications to disseminate research findings.
- Experience writing proposals for funded research projects preferred.
Profil recherché :
Qualifications and Experience:
- Engineering degree in Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Maintenance, or equivalent.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in materials evaluation, structural diagnostics, reliability engineering, or related fields.
- Solid hands-on experience with laboratory testing equipment and NDT tools.
- In-depth knowledge of materials degradation mechanisms (wear, corrosion, fatigue, creep), and their mitigation in industrial contexts.
- Familiarity with ISO/ASTM/ASME standards related to inspection, maintenance, and material performance.
- Rigorous, detail-oriented, and capable of producing clear technical documentation and failure investigation reports.
- Strong communication and documentation skills in English. Fluency in French would be a plus.
