Description of the position and duties:

For Today’s energy economy, energy should be produced and stored emission-free, efficiently, and sustainably for long-term use. For this purpose, green hydrogen is suitable. The green hydrogen is generally produced by splitting water molecule into hydrogen and oxygen via electrolysis. There are different types of electrolyzer: polymer electrolyte membrane (PEM), conventional alkaline electrolysis (AEL) and alkaline electrolyte membrane electrolysis (AEM).

Our group within the MSN department, in the field of hydrogen production by water electrolysis, is currently working on the development of new electrocatalysts for oxygen evolution reaction (OER) and hydrogen evolution reaction (HER), membranes development, MEA, the construction and commissioning of electrolysis test stands.

We are hiring research engineer to support the activity on hydrogen production.

 Duties:

  • Undertake material synthesis and characterization within a collaborative research and applied projects, design and test electrochemical systems including fuel cells, and electrolysis.
  • Carrying out, monitoring and supervising test series, construction and optimization of electrolysis and fuel cells, bipolar electrodes, MEA construction, testing and optimization
  • Collaborate with suppliers, support staff, and other engineers, PhD students to plan and implement experiments on different component of the fuel cell and electrolyzer (electrodes, membranes, catalyst, water and gas management, etc.)
  • Sets up testing methods, instruments and perform data acquisition, processing and interpretation for of different component of fuel cells and electrolyzer.
  • Keep a technological watch on emerging technology and materials and competitive by actively attending meetings or conferences, reading current scientific publications, and research reports, books, etc.
  • Scientific and technical reporting and communication
  • Identify areas of improvement within the research structure using integrated management approaches in pursuit of capacity building/strengthening and the preservation of scientific rigor.

 

Profil recherché :

Qualifications:

  • A Ph.D. in chemistry or in physical chemistry with a strong background in electrochemistry, electrocatalysis, and green hydrogen
  • Demonstrated expertise and a strong research track record.
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills.
