Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly motivated Research Engineer with expertise in Microalgae Biotechnology and Molecular Biology to join our team at the AGBS Department. In this role, you will be responsible for conducting research in microalgae cultivation, downstream processing, and molecular characterization. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge research in the field of algal biotechnology and sustainable development.
Responsibilities:
- Cultivate multiple microalgae strains in lab-scale as well as larger bioreactors (up to 100L).
- Convert various types of food waste into suitable media for microalgae cultivation.
- Conduct analysis of microalgae composition, including protein, carbohydrate, lipid, etc.
- Perform extraction of specific products from microalgal biomass.
- Utilize molecular biology techniques such as DNA extraction, electrophoresis, sequencing, etc., for genetic analysis and manipulation of microalgae.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to design and execute experiments, analyze data, and interpret results.
- Prepare technical reports, presentations, and publications documenting research findings.
- Maintain accurate records of experimental procedures, data, and inventory.
- Ensure compliance with safety protocols and regulatory guidelines.
Profil recherché :
Qualifications:
- Minimum masters degree in Biological Sciences, Bioengineering, Chemical Engineering, or related field from a renowned university.
- Strong background in microalgal/microbial cultivation, downstream processing, and material characterization.
- Proficiency in molecular biology techniques, including DNA extraction, electrophoresis, sequencing, etc.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
