The Bioinformatics Laboratory at the University of Mohammed VI Polytechnic Benguerir Morocco is seeking applicants for a Research Engineer in Plant Bioinformatics for 6 month CDD. The successful candidate will be part of the Bioinformatics Laboratory (bioinformatics.um6p.ma) at the African Genome Center and will develop a novel bioinformatics pipeline for plant genomics. The candidate will work with an enthusiastic team of PhD students and postdocs, with diverse backgrounds, including plant molecular biology, biomedical bioinformatics, machine learning and metagenomics.
Duties
The specific responsibilities and tasks of the successful candidate will include:
- Develop a novel bioinformatics tool for analyzing plant genomics data.
- Publish a research paper about the developed tool in a high impact factor journals with collaboration with researchers in the bioinformatics laboratory.
- Maintain and online and local version of the tool.
- Collaborate with other UM6P researchers or related research projects.
Profil recherché :
Qualifications and Experience
Essential (please indicate in the cover letter):
- Minimum of 2 years as postdoctoral research in bioinformatics or equivalent with a good record of publications in the plant bioinformatics field.
- PhD. in Genomics, Biology, Bioinformatics or equivalent
- Experience supported by scientific records related to development new plant bioinformatics toolkits such as pipelines, webservers, and databases.
- Practical experience in analyzing extensive bioinformatics and/or genetics datasets.
- Programming skills (Python, Perl or R)
- Demonstrated publication record in well-ranked journals
- Proven ability to fulfill the academic writing requirements for the development of proposals, reports, and scientific publications.
- Ability to work both as part of a team and to work independently.
