Description of the position and duties:

Today several methods are investigated and developed to produce H2 with high efficiency and low environmental impact. These include water electrolysis, photocatalytic and thermochemical water splitting, and hydrocarbons pyrolysis, plasmolysis, and reforming.

We are seeking a scientist to establish and to develop novel and sustainable approaches based on thermolysis and plasmolysis to produce H2 through conversion of local and abundant biomass and/or waste. The research will be carried within the Hydrogen group of the MSN department.


Duties :

  • Screening and reporting on the potential of biomass and waste for hydrogen production and value-added products.
  • Developing new, advanced, and optimized reactors and approaches for CO2 free H2 production
  • Mastering modeling tools for reactors design and process optimization (Comsol, Aspen+, etc)
  • Good skills and knowledge on renewable energy and their integration.
  • Ability to establish research collaborations with industry, national and international laboratories.
  • Collaborates with suppliers, support staff, and other engineers, PhD students to plan and implement experiments.
  • Present and report in national, international conferences publishing in peer-reviewed journals.
  • Keep a technological watch on emerging technology and materials, along with participating to collaborative research works and calls for projects.
  • Communicate to the team the development, progress and results of research activities ensuring that relevant information and issues in the implementation of projects/experiments are captured in as comprehensive and timely manner as possible.
  • Identify areas of improvement within the research structure using integrated management approaches in pursuit of capacity building/strengthening and the preservation of scientific rigor.
  • Support if required, other research projects.


Profil recherché :



  • A Ph.D. in Physics or physical chemistry with a focus on pyrolysis and gasification process.
  • Demonstrated expertise and a strong research track record.
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills.
  • Postdoctoral experience.
