Research:
The selected candidate will conduct research within the UM6P African Research Centre on Air Quality and Climate. Collaborating with students, postdoctoral fellows, and visiting scholars worldwide, the Centre is committed to training a new generation of African Atmospheric Scientists and faculty members. Research endeavors primarily focus on experimental and Modelling aspects. A notable characteristic of the Centres research is the strong collaboration among all members. The selected candidate will have to develop independent research activities on the atmospheric chemistry and aerosols.

Candidate Profile:
We are looking for an experimentalist from all around the world and would welcome application from candidates with expertise and excellent training in atmospheric chemistry studies (laboratory and field). Candidate should have internationally recognized research expertise in one or more chemistry and physical chemistry disciplines, preferably holding a Ph.D. in Chemistry, in Physical Chemistry or another appropriate field. The candidate's higher education and professional experience outside Morocco should be substantial to ensure the international character of the institution. Strong collaboration skills with researchers from diverse disciplines and a keen interest and proven experience in student support, mentoring, and interactive pedagogies are essential. Nationality is not a limiting factor.
Duties and Responsibilities:
The Center is looking for a Senior Scientist to work on Atmospheric Aerosol Sciences. The Center seeks to advance the research frontier on aerosol-air quality-health-climate interactions. Research foci can include aerosol remote sensing, ground sampling and chemical composition characterization and their integration with large datasets. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work on other problems related to global atmospheric chemistry, air quality, and model development.
Responsibilities include initiating and developing high-quality research, publishing in leading journals, and presenting at international conferences. The Center encourages qualified candidates who will contribute, through their research, teaching, and/or service, to the diversity and excellence of the academic community.
The successful candidate will have the responsibility in:
- setting up and running a laboratory dedicated to atmospheric aerosols chemistry studies in the laboratory and the field.
- conducting and maintaining the high-quality continuous investigations of atmospheric aerosols including dust and secondary organic aerosols and harmonize the measurement and calibration procedures with other groups worldwide.
Candidate will also work with modellers based at various sites to interpret the data from the UM6P Stations and other global data sets and with the wider team members including postdoctoral research associates and PhD students.
