Poste :
Technician in Soil-Plant Microbiology and Biochemistry
Duration: Fixed term of 6 months, with a possibility of renewal.
Position description and mission: Under the direction of the Program Lead, the technician will be responsible for research that evaluates the microbial and biochemical responses to water limitation and other abiotic stresses in soil-plant systems. The work involves preparing research materials for experiments in controlled environment, applying treatments and recording observations during the experiment, preparing samples for analysis, making measurements and entering data into spreadsheets.
Principal duties:
- Gather, prepare and treat experimental materials according to protocols, as defined by the research team;
- Maintain experimental materials in controlled environments;
- Record observations and measurements in a well-organized laboratory notebook;
- Collect and prepare samples of soil, plant, water, gas and fertilizing amendments for analysis;
- Do the sample analysis according to standard methods, with guidance from the research team;
- Be attentive to safe and hygienic laboratory practices;
- Organize data in spreadsheets for analysis;
- Prepare tables, graphics and illustrations of the experimental materials and analytical procedures;
Skills:
- Interest in experimental work involving applied microbiology and biochemistry
- Experience in working with chemical products and safe laboratory practices
- Willingness to be trained in specialized methods for sample preparation and analysis
- Mastery of English (reading, writing, oral)

Desired profile:
The selected candidate should have:
- Bachelors degree (+4) or Engineering degree in Agronomy, Applied Chemistry, Biochemistry, Biotechnology or equivalent training.
- Capacity to be responsible for managing experiments autonomously
- Good organization and communication skills
- Previous research experience a plus.
