Poste :

• General Purpose:

Under the general supervision of the head of the animal facility, you will be responsible for performing routine and technical services related to the maintenance, upkeeping and improving sanitary conditions of the animal facility, health, welfare, daily care and wellbeing of the animals (i.e. rodents) at the facility.

• Specific Duties:

Provide daily care for research animals (i.e. rats & mice).
Clean and disinfection of cages and related equipment.
Monitor the health and well-being of the animals and resolve any behavioral problems.
Implementation of standard operating procedures and all biosafety and animal welfare regulations.
Taking responsibility for appropriate breeding of several strains of mice and rats.
Performing proper weaning for pups.
Obtain samples and biopsies for genotyping purposes.
Understand the requirement of animals and regulation that governs the use of animals in scientific research.
Efficient collection and record of data.
High motivation to improve your expertise in animal research which might allow you to:

Contribute in the design of studies and setting the optimal conditions and protocols for animals that will satisfy the specific requirement of scientists.
Play a key role in selecting animals for studies, as well as carrying out and developing dosing, assessment and sampling techniques.
Perform complex surgeries such as stereotaxic injections of drugs, cells, viruses …
Be an active part in the ethical committee of the university.

Profil recherché :

• Qualifications:

Special degree in animal experimentation, though preferable, is not needed. A genuine interest in animal care is more important.
Prior experience in a rodent animal facility is important.
Knowledge in immunology, microbiology and genetics is helpful mainly at a higher, more mature level of the position.
