Poste :

GSMI (Geology & Sustainable Mining institute) aims to strengthen its industrial partnerships within and beyond Morocco and Africa by adopting an integrated and sustainable strategic vision of R&D and training. The institute focuses on various aspects of the mine lifecycle and aims to provide significantly higher added value. In addition to conventional mineral resources R&D, GSMI places emphasis on developing the mine of the future, which includes areas such as geo-mineralogy of mineral resources, circular economy, resource governance, sustainable management of water in mining, and integrated management of mine discharges.

Furthermore, GSMI offers several state-of-the-art R&D platforms that are at the forefront of science and technology. These platforms serve as advanced research and development facilities for conducting cutting-edge research and exploring technological advancements in the field.

 

UM6P is seeking a new job position as Expert in Electronic Microscopy Analysis. The position will be open until the selection of a candidate.

 

The candidate will be requested to:

 

  • Undertake and develop original and high-level research activities around GSMI research access,
  • Participate in teaching activities within GSMI program and UM6P in general
  • Supervise and train undergraduate and graduate students
  • Write and publish scientific papers in high level specialized journals,
  • Assume various management activities within the framework of GSMI

Profil recherché :

Candidate profile:

 

To qualify for this position, the candidate must have a PhD in Materials Science and possess a strong understanding and experience in electron microscopy principles, including the physics of electron scattering, the operation of electron microscopes, and the types of information that can be obtained from electron micrographs. Additionally, the candidate must have experience with sample preparation techniques, data acquisition, image processing, and data analysis.

The ideal candidate should have conducted studies using high-resolution analytical TEM to characterize materials and minerals. They should also possess the ability to interpret SEM or TEM results, process data, contribute to the writing of publications, and develop new electron microscopy techniques for material characterization, such as high-resolution imaging in TEM, microdiffraction, EELS, filtered imaging, and high-resolution imaging in scanning transmission electron microscopy (STEM).

Furthermore, the candidate should be able to define optimal conditions for obtaining the best results and develop new microscopy techniques. They should also possess technical expertise in the operation and maintenance of electron microscopes and related equipment.

The candidate must have demonstrated excellent abilities to conduct original research and transfer knowledge, including high qualified student training and publications in leading international journals. The candidate must demonstrate a pertinent plan for its integration to UM6P.

  • Ability to communicate fluently in English, French is an asset;

  • Concern for the organization, effectiveness, efficiency, production and productivity of the entire unit;
  • Autonomy and availability.
