Poste :
OPEN POSITION: LABORATORY TECHNICIAN IN THE FIELD OF GENOMICS
The UM6P-FMS is currently accepting applications for a laboratory technician position on a 3-year limited-term contract. The selected candidate will be responsible for coordinating day-to-day laboratory operations within the genomics laboratory. Their primary objective is to ensure the smooth progression of tasks and the efficient handling of samples across multiple projects. The appointee will collaborate closely with genomics laboratory students and the Bioscience Corelab team while actively contributing to ongoing research initiatives and publication efforts.
JOB DESCRIPTION
The candidate will be required to:
- Organize daily laboratory operations.
- Order and appropriately store consumables for various projects.
- Conduct laboratory experiments under the supervision of the laboratory head.
- Keep track of stock levels and needed chemicals, kits, and consumables for laboratory projects.
- Assist the genomics laboratory students and participating in ongoing studies, as needed.
- Document laboratory activities and results.
- Plan and follow the status of new orders.

Profil recherché :
REQUIRED SKILLS AND JOB REQUIREMENTS:
This position is suitable for candidates’ possessing expertise in the following areas:
- Utilization of molecular biology techniques, including nucleic acid extraction, PCR, gel electrophoresis, genotyping, and primer design.
- Familiarity with first- and second-generation sequencing methodologies.
- Proficiency in epidemiology and the management of large sample datasets.
- Strong written and oral communication skills, with the ability to succinctly convey research findings to diverse audiences and ensure comprehensive documentation of key results, conclusions, and decisions.
- Master’s degree in molecular biology or biotechnology,
- Background in genomics and sequencing technologies, molecular biology tools, and the use of genomics in epidemiology.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks.
- Positive attitude and good communication skills.
- Proactivity and capacity to work under pressure.
- Aptitude for teamwork, problem-solving, and collaborative work.
