As part of the development of its team, ILO ( Innovation Lab for Operations) is looking for a Lead Research Engineer to lead research and engineering projects in the field of advanced process control. The lead research engineer will monitor and contribute to the development of advanced process control solutions for industrial challenges in collaboration with automation engineers, data scientists and developers from different labs, as well as different actors of the university’s ecosystem.
The Lead Research Engineer will also participate in the search for emerging partnership opportunities and the development of new projects and proposals for ILO.
Design and develop advanced process control solutions for industrial processes.
Model, simulate, and optimize industrial processes.
Propose digitalization solutions and strategies to business challenges.
Build predictive models and machine?learning algorithms.
Conduct upstream studies to prepare the team's future projects.
Present and explain algorithms and their business impact to both a tech and non-tech audience.
Monitor the progress and completion of assigned projects.
Evaluate the effectiveness of the solutions developed and monitor their run, improvement, and impact.
Develop and maintain process documentation for assigned projects.
Conduct individual or collaborative research projects.
Report results and write scientific papers.
Other duties and special projects as assigned.
Profil recherché :
PhD and Engineering degree in Automation and Industrial Informatics.
3 to 5 years of industrial experience in the field of process control and digitalization (Industry 4.0).
Strong knowledge of process control algorithms, automation, and instrumentation.
Knowledge of process modeling, simulation, and optimization.
Experience in computer programming (Python, Matlab/Simulink, …) and advanced data analysis skills.
Experience with data mining and machine learning algorithms.
A good publication record in international peer-reviewed journals and conferences.
Strong attention to detail, written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to generate new ideas, links, and to build upon existing ideas to generate good concepts and solutions.
Strong organizational, analytical, and technical skills.
High level of individual responsibility, commitment, and autonomy
