Position Title: Research Assistant – CDD. Geomodelling and geological exploration
Duration: 12 months
We are seeking a motivated and skilled Research Assistant to join our team to support ongoing geological exploration projects. The position involves the use of advanced geological modelling techniques for 3D geometry analysis and resources estimation. The successful candidate will be involved mainly tasks related to two important projects: Natural hydrogen and Potassium-rich igneous rocks in the Aousserd Area.
For natural hydrogen, also known as white hydrogen, which is produced by natural deep-earth processes, the tasks involve using various specialized datasets to create a comprehensive geological model of a large area and as well as for targeted areas. The data will be integrated using geological modelling techniques, including geophysical, structural geology, and available core data.
For the exploration of potassium-rich igneous rocks in the Aousserd Area, the tasks primarily involve applying geological modelling to estimate the volume and quality of K-syenite facies using the available geological and geophysical data of targeted facies.
The candidate may also be required to work on other exploration projects as needed.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and apply geological models to support exploration projects.
- Analyze and interpret 3D data of sub-surfaces.
- Collaborate with senior researchers to integrate remote sensing data with geophysical, geochemical, and geological data.
- Collaborate with field teams to validate modelling results and refine exploration targets.
- Prepare detailed reports and presentations on modelling results and potential resource estimates.
Skills:
We are looking for highly motivated and enthusiastic candidate, who should have:
- Strong understanding of geological modelling software (e.g., Leapfrog, Petrel, Studio RM or similar).
- Skills on geophysical software such as Oasis montaj will be a plus
- Data processing and analysis skills (programming language: R, Matlab, Python or other).
- A good understanding of the mineral exploration workflow.
- Skills on field investigations
- Good communication skills, both written and oral (French and English), are essential
- Ability to work in collaboration and in a team
- Strong analytical skills for effective problem solving
