Job Title: Research Engineer in Plant Sciences and Biotechnology
Job description:
African Sustainable Agriculture Research Institute (ASARI) at Mohammed VI Polytechnic University (UM6P) is seeking applications for a permanent position as a Research Engineer specializing in Plant Sciences and Biotechnology.
Candidate should hold a PhD with a professional experience in Plant Sciences and Biotechnology. The successful candidate will be responsible for executing scientific research in the laboratory and organizing/carrying out fieldwork.
Key duties:
Successful candidate is expected to:
- Have a good experience in lab/fieldwork.
- Assist in organizing and launching research activities.
- Collect, support, and process samples for laboratory tests.
- Conduct botanical expeditions to characterize medicinal and aromatic desert plants with high economic value.
- Possess substantial experience in research within the field of plant tissue culture, metabolic engineering and molecular biology.
- Have expertise in plant cell, tissue, and organ culture including organogenesis, somatic embryogenesis, and cell suspension culture.
- Develop new and innovative approaches to optimize the biosynthesis and the production of bioactive compounds using advanced biotechnological tools.
- Prepare stock solutions and optimize media requirements for different species and stages of growth.
- Ability to follow standard operating procedures, keep exact, detailed records, and collect data.
- Contribute to general laboratory management and logistics.
- Contribute to the writing of scientific documents (reports, articles, proposals…)
- Have strong French and English communication skills. Both verbal and written, are required.
Profil recherché :
Criteria of the candidate:
- PhD in Plant Sciences, Molecular Biology, and Biotechnology from a recognized University.
- Strong laboratory skills, ideally with skills in Plant biology / In vitro Culture /Metabolic engineering / Molecular Biology.
- Able to carry out fieldwork.
- Able to learn new practical and theoretical skills quickly.
- Positive working attitude and ability to work both in a team and independently.
