About MSN department

The Materials Science, Energy, and nano-engineering (MSN) is a department at Mohammed VI Polytechnic University that aims to makes use of innovative research and education in order to promote solution development and entrepreneurship (in the context of Moroccan and African challenges), while training the next generation top scientists, innovators and entrepreneurs.

MSN's research is structured into three distinct clusters: Energy Transition, Smart and Functional Materials, and Circular Materials. With a research community comprising a minimum of 100 researchers and PhD students, alongside numerous national and international partnerships. MSN has positioned itself as a robust and emerging force in the Moroccan materials research landscape. The department is actively engaged in coordinating both initial and executive Master programs, demonstrating a commitment to advancing education and fostering expertise in the field.

Position Announcement

Job Title: Scientist in Material Design for CO2 capture and storage.

Area of specialization: Material Science and Technologies.

Job Summary

The Materials Science, Energy, and nano-engineering (MSN) department is looking for a motivated candidate to develop novel and sustainable synthesis roots to manufacture materials for carbon capture and storage. The successful candidate will also be expected to teach, train and supervise engineers and students.

 

Profil recherché :

Job Responsibilities

Responsibilities will include but not limited to:

  • Contribution to research programs with academics and/or industrial partners by providing       innovative solutions to troubleshoot Fab to Lab-related challenges.
  • Participation to specialized modules devoted on the materials development, formulation and characterizations for technological applications.
  • Contribution to the documentation of research findings through reports, presentations, patents, and publications.
  • Preparation and submission of relevant research grant-proposals.
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills to collaborate within a multidisciplinary      environment.

Additional responsibilities include:

  • Problem-solving skills and ability to adapt to evolving project needs.
  • Conception and design of material formulation and characterization for CO2 capture.
  • Participation in the organization of workshops and conferences.

    • 3 references letters, from the supervisors working in Academia and/or Industry.

 

Qualifications and Experience Essential

    • Ph.D. in Material Sciences and Technologies.
    • Experience of at least two years of research in material science after the accomplishment of the Ph.D.
    • Experience conducting research in the development of novel and sustainable materials. 
    • Experience in co-supervision and teaching of graduate (Master and/or Ph.D) and undergraduate (Bachelor) students in Material Sciences and technologies.
    • Evidence of ability to work with other researchers in an interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary setting and lead an innovative trait development program.
    • Demonstrated publication record in well-ranked journals.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in both English and French.

Desirable

  • Proven experiences in both 3D printing (robocasting) and the design of advanced materials to produce robust monolithic supports with complex shapes adaptable to industrial environment.
