Job Title: Scientist in Phytochemistry and Cell Biology
Job description:
African Sustainable Agriculture Research Institute (ASARI) at Mohammed VI Polytechnic University (UM6P) – Laayoune, is seeking applications for a permanent position as a Scientist in the field of Phytochemistry and Cell Biology.
The candidate should hold a PhD in Phytochemistry/Cell biology (or equivalent) with an extensive professional experience in flow cytometry and natural product extraction. He/she should have good experience in biochemistry, molecular and cell biology, and the ability to engage professionally with a diverse population of faculty, staff, and students across the university and externally. The candidate must show evidence of research excellence. Strong English and French communication skills, both verbal and written, are required.
Key duties:
Successful candidate is expected to:
- Have strong experience in the field of Phytochemistry and cell biology
- Have good knowledge and familiarity with in vitro culture/cell treatments and plant tissue culture
- Have a strong experience in the improvement of the extraction of bioactive compounds processes
- Have experience in the identification of bioactive compounds in raw plant extracts through spectrophotometry and chromatography.
- Have a strong expertise on flow cytometry and data analysis with statistical software
- Have the ability to generate new ideas, links, and to build upon existing ideas to generate good concepts and solutions
- Publish the results in international peer-review journals
- Pursue and/or propose scholarly and professional activities that will keep him/her at the leading edge of his/her field
Profil recherché :
Criteria of the candidate:
- PhD in Biochemistry, Molecular and Cell Biology from a recognized University
- At least 2 years’ experience in research in the field of the optimization of the extraction processes and natural products characterization (extraction, isolation, and quantification of primary and secondary metabolites) and in vitro evaluation of their biological and pharmacological activities (Cell culture).
- High publication record
- Positive attitude in the workplace
